1.) Is this course recognised?
Yes, this course is affiliated to All India Early Childhood Care and Education (AIECCE, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India, New Delhi) and recognized all over the country.


2.) How much time do I need to devote to this course?
The course would require you to put in 15 to 20 hours of classroom time every week.

3.) Will you give me job placements?
We shall guide you in placements and train you for interviews.

4.) What are the criteria for enrolling for this course?
Minimum of 12th grade certification and Basic English communication skills are required for enrolling for this course. There is no age criterion for this course.

5.)  Can I continue working while doing this course?
Yes, you may do so provided you complete the theory portion as prescribed and appear for all the examinations as per schedule of the centre.

6.) On completion of this course, can I work in International schools?
The course shall empower you with knowledge, skills and attitudes to work in any preschool setting.


7.) Does ECDA only recognise training programmes offered by ECDA accredited training agencies?
If you​​ intend to embark on a local certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education, you should attend an ECDA-recognised certificate or diploma programme conducted at the Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics or ECDA accredited training agencies. 8.) What kind of funding is available for the courses?
The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) provides Singaporeans and Permanent Residents with subsidies for programmes accredited under the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) Framework. Singaporeans and Permanent Residents also enjoy subsidised fees at local Polytechnics. 9.) I would like to embark on the part-time Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education–Teaching (DECCE-T) at the local Polytechnic but I do not have 5 GCE 'O' level credits. What can I do?
Applicants who possess a Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (CECCE) or WSQ Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education (ACECCE) and a credit in GCE 'O' level English (or acceptable alternatives) can apply to the CET DECCE-T programme offered by Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic. CECCE/WSQ ACECCE applicants will be required to complete and pass three pre-requisite modules under Certificate in Introduction to Early Care and Education before being accepted into the DECCE-T programme. 10.) Is there a list of Degrees which ECDA recognises?
ECDA does not accredit nor recognise early childhood degree or master programmes as the highest qualification required to be certified as a preschool teacher in Singapore is the Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching / WSQ Professional Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (WSQ PDECCE) or equivalent.


11.) Can I work part-time in any of the preschools as a trial to find out if I am suitable to be a preschool teacher?
The Workforce Development Agency (WDA) with the support of ECDA launched a Traineeship Programme (Singaporean and Permanent Residents only) for the Early Childhood sector. The programme allows jobseekers who are interested in the Early Childhood sector to have first-hand experience of jobs offered in the sector. Trainees will undergo a short-term traineeship programme with pre-school operators for up to 2 weeks (80 hours) of on-the-job training in early childhood skills. They will receive training allowance for the period of traineeship. In addition, they will receive incentives of up to $500 if they complete the traineeship programme and continue to remain in the sector.
